面接スタート
それではいよいよここから面接本番です。
試験官によって、どういう流れで面接をするのかは違うようですが、おおむねこのような流れになるはずです。
１）本人確認
まず一番最初に、面接に来た人物の本人確認から入ります。
試験官はこのような事を言うでしょう。
試験官 :
I need to see your lawful permanent resident card all of your passports and state issued identification please.
私:
Sure.（グリーンカード、パスポート、ドライバーズライセンスを渡す）
本人かどうか、チェックをされます。
2) N400の確認作業
次に、オンラインで申請済みのN400の確認作業に入ります。
試験官によって、さくっと終わったり、念入りに確認されたりするようです。
自分の提出したN400に何が書かれていたのか、それに対してどう答えていたのか、事前に確認をしておくようにしてください。
前回書きましたが、試験官によって、書かれている内容を理解しているのかというチェックが入ります。英語が不得意そうな人にあえて聞くことがおおいようですので、ご注意ください。
N４００の確認作業はだいたいこんな感じです。

確認作業１＿名前、出生地など、アメリカに来る前の話などが中心の質問

余談話）＿もし、配偶者のステイタスが合法に居れないような場合
配偶者のステイタスがない場合のありとあらゆるケースを調べました。結果、そういう場合は正直に話すことに徹するのが一番だと判断しました。
理由は、審査対象はあなたであり、あなたが適正かどうかをみられる面接において、配偶者のステイタスが原因で申請が却下されるというところまでには至らないようだということ。
もしからしたら、面接当日は合否を保留にされる可能性は高いですが、それだけの理由で却下されるということはない模様です。むしろ、ごまかしたり（わかりませんと答えたり）、言い訳をする方が事態を悪化させるようです。
試験官の中には、米国に合法に滞在することができない配偶者なのだと答えた後に、「配偶者は働いているのか」という質問をする人がいるそうです。「はい」と答えると、「なぜ労働許可が下りていないのに働いているのか」という攻撃を受ける人もいます。また、もっと意地の悪い試験官は「その人物が不法滞在であることが分かっていながら一緒に暮らすということは、その人が法を犯していることを助けているということですよ。これから市民になろうとしている人物として相応しいか判断される際の重要な判断材料となる」と高圧的に言ってくる人もいるようです。
ここで一番大切なことは、「決していかなる質問にも動揺してはいけない」ということです。負けてはいけません。また、感情的になってもいけません。ばくばくする心臓を落ち着かせつように深呼吸し、その試験官を真っすぐ見つめ、質問されたものに事実だけを答えるようにしてください。
面接というまな板の鯉としてその場にいる以上、何を言われても、どう転んでもステイタスはどうにもできません。
この際、正直に言うということに徹していくこと。アメリカの素晴らしい点は、「情状酌量」という概念が移民局にも存在しているというところです。目を見て誠実に話すこと。配偶者の何かしらの不備で、当事者の市民権の申請が却下されたケースが見当たらないのはそういうことです。

YES/NO シリーズ
続いて、決まった質問に答えるシリーズが登場します。詳しくは、ご自身が申請したN4００の申請資料をみてください。そこにこの質問シリーズがあります。
最初に質問されるのは、すべて「NO」と答えなえればいけない質問シリーズです。

通常は、決まった質問に対して「NO」と答えるだけですが、
英語に少々難がある人は、攻撃にあう可能性があります。
例えばこんなのです。
1 Q: Have you EVER claimed to be a US citizen ?
これからアメリカ市民になろうとしているのに、「アメリカ市民です」と言ったり、書類に書いたりしたことがあるか？という問いです。もちろん、「NO」と言いましょう。
そして、一瞬ぽかーんとしていると、こんな攻撃にあいます。

次に行きましょう。

これも、アメリカ市民にまだなっていないのに、選挙のサインナップをしたことがあるかと聞いています。もちろん、答えは「NO」です。

そして、実際に選挙で投票したことがあるかと聞いています。もちろん答えは「NO」です。
4 Q: do you now have, or did you ever have a hereditary title or an order of nobility in any foreign country
何か特別な称号を持っている、持っていたか？と聞いています。王族の方であればそうですと答えますが、一般人は「NO」と答えましょう。

法的に精神的判断ができない、精神病棟にいたことがありますか？－「NO」と答えましょう。

未払いの税金がありますか？ 「NO」ですね。もし未払いがあるのでしたら、支払えるなら支払っておいた方がよいと思います。何か引っかかりを残すことは、試験官に判断をゆだねてしまうことになり大変危険です。どうしても面接までに支払えそうもない額なら、例えば「I pay off my tax debt through an installment agreement」だとか、IRSとやり取りをして、一生懸命返そうとしている姿勢を言うなどするかもしれませんが、余計な説明をしなくてはいけないものはなるべく避けましょう。

これが一番シンプルな答えでしょう。どうしてもカールマルクスの話をしたい場合はそのバージョンをご自身でご用意ください。
聞かれる人は一つずつ意味を聞かれることがある
運が悪い人は、一つずつずっと意味を聞かれ続けるケースがあるようです。落とす気マンマンの試験官に対抗するには、説明できるようにしておく以外に方法はありません。
聞かれない人の方が多いようですが、聞かれる人はしつこく聞かれます。

聞かれるかどうかよりも、絶対に知っていないといけないのは「bear arms」でしょう。
憲法に準じて必要とあればアメリカのために戦うかという質問が最後らへんに来ます。
YES/NOの質問シリーズの中で、この答えは「YES」となります。
ええ、いろんな思いがあるでしょう。
この質問に「NO」と言って、言い方が悪かったのか、試験官の虫の居所が悪かったのか、一年合否を保留にされた友人を知っています。
この質問に戦いたければ戦えばいいのですが、後にしませんか。
あなたが市民になって、投票権を持ち、言いたいことを市民になってからぶちまけましょう。
